MISSION STATEMENT

The Barnes County Veteran's Service Office works with veterans and veteran's families within local, state and federal laws. The office provides assistance with pensions, medical care, military records, VA benefits, proof of service burials and death payments

Duties include, but are not limited to:

+ Initiate claims for veterans and veterans families.

+ Counsel veterans and dependents on benefits due them.

+ Maintain close contact with National Service Officers and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

+ Be Familiar with North Dakota state laws pertaining to veterans covered under the "Veteran's Laws of North Dakota."

+ Be familiar with the operation of Veteran's Administration Medical Care System.

+ Inform the County Commissioners and Veteran's Organization of the activities of the office.

+ Prepare periodic reports and present to proper offices (county and state).

+ Maintain a working relationship with ND Job Service, Social Services, County Sheriff, local Police Department, and any other appropriate agency.

+ Budget appropriately for office operation.

+ Maintain schedules for Veteran's transportation.
